William Chris Meier
August 3, 1959 – January 23, 2026
Chris Meier of Baytown left us too soon, but not before filling his 66 years with laughter, love, and more crawfish étouffée than anyone thought possible.
Born in Kansas to Billie and Jack Meier, Chris was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Debbie.
Life, in its generous way, gave Chris a second chapter when friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story with his wife Samantha. Together they built a family overflowing with joy: their son William A. Meier, daughters Kimberly and Jessica (and son-in-law Rome), and Chris's newest pride-his grandson Azariah, who had just begun wrapping him around his tiny finger.
Chris leaves behind a large and loving family: his father-in-law Bruce McPherson; mother-in-law Dawn Simon; siblings Kendall (Trudy), Kevin (Suzie), Karen, and Kathy; sister-in-law Ashley (Charlie Thrash); and the family who remained close through every season-Debbie's parents and siblings, Becky and Tony McCollum, Kathy and Rusty Harmon, and Maurice and Mary Biere.
For over 30 years, Chris dedicated himself to DuPont, a career that brought him to Baytown and introduced him to a community he would come to love. A big man with an even bigger heart, Chris was known for his warmth, his generosity, and his mischievous sense of humor-especially on Halloween night, when no one was safe from his tricks.
His passions ran deep: the St. Louis Blues had his unwavering loyalty, the golf course had his weekends, and any dish involving crawfish had his complete attention. Christmas was his favorite holiday, marked by the tradition of watching Miracle on 34th Street in black and white, a ritual as dependable as his smile.
Chris Meier was fun to be around, quick with a joke, and always ready to make room at the table. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A gathering in the memory of Chris will be announced at a later date.
