Beth Meyer Perry was born May 19, 1934, in Manhattan, Kansas, the oldest daughter of Arthur and Edna Meyer.
The family moved from Kansas to Missouri, then to Tennessee where Beth spent her early years. The family then lived in North Carolina for two years. During that time, Beth was baptized and joined the Methodist Church. She attended schools in Knoxville, TN, Meisenheimer, NC, and Pikeville, TN. She graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1951. In 1955, she graduated from Berea College, Berea, KY with a degree in Religion. She then moved to Creston where she was employed at the Creston Methodist Church as Educational Assistant. On September 8, 1956, she married Jay Perry in Creston. They lived and farmed in Carl Township, Adams County, IA. They became the parents of two daughters, Elaine and Jane. In 1968 they moved to Creston after Jay became the local John Deere dealer.
During the time the family lived in Adams County, Beth belonged to the Carl United Methodist Church. After moving in 1968, she joined the Creston United Methodist Church, served in many capacities and was on the staff on two occasions. She was a member of United Methodist Women and served in numerous offices. She was a life member of Bancroft History Assembly and belonged to Creston Lions Club and Iowa/Missouri Flying Farmers. Due to the health problems of her daughter, Jane, Beth started a network for those with pituitary problems in 1988.
In 2010, Beth moved from her home to Crest Ridge Estates Independent Senior Housing in Creston. In 2023, she moved to Wellsboro, PA. She resided at Country Terrace and the Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Beth passed away on August 22, 2025, in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Preceding her in death were parents, Arthur and Edna Meyer, husband, Jay, daughter, Jane, brothers-in-law, Will Smith, Larry Frantz, Eugene Perry, Clair Perry, Merrill Perry (Sue), Doyle Perry (Marilyn), Russell Perry.
Survivors include daughter Elaine, granddaughter, Elizabeth, sisters, Lavina Smith, Edith Cary, and Miriam Frantz, brother-in-law, Bob Cary, sisters-in-law, Joyce Perry and Starla Taylor, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be observed at Creston United Methodist Church, Creston, Iowa. A private burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Creston, Iowa. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
