BETH A. WELFLING

1950 - 2025

Beth A. Welfling, 74, of Lock Haven passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Jersey Shore Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born August 15, 1950, in Wellsboro, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Welfling and Ruby Schumann Welfling who survives in Woolrich. She was raised on a dairy farm in Germania, graduating from Galeton High School in 1968.
Beth earned her teaching degree from Lock Haven State University, graduating in 1972. She then taught at Northern Potter High School in Ulysses.
In 1975, Beth returned to Lock Haven. In addition to owning and operating the Fallon Hotel, she was employed as office manager at the Clinton County Club. Beth was also a substitute and summer schoolteacher for Keystone Central School District.
Later, she met and married Jeffry L. Bowman. Together they owned and operated the Mangy Moose in Woolrich, where Beth was famous for her Mooseburgers and mac and cheese.
She was a member of the former St. Mattheaus Lutheran Church, Germania.
Beth was a voracious reader and puzzler.
She played softball and shot in local pool leagues for many years.
Beth enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with her family and friends at Ole Bull State Park and Quiet Oaks Campground. She had a love for singing, especially around a campfire.
Her heart for animals, led her and Jeffry to retire on a farm in Cascade Township where they raised dogs, cats, goats, chickens, two Scottish Highland cows and her horse, Lady.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Abigail Batterson of Lock Haven and sister, Joan Welfling of Lock Haven.
Along with her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Welfling and sister, Susan Welfling.
