Bether Lean Williams was born on December 28, 1941, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late Floyd Cole, Sr. and Pearline McGriff. She transitioned peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bether received her education through the Dothan public school system. she turn her life over to Christ at an early age and when she moved to Boston she continued to worship at First Baptist Church of Saugus, MA.
Bether was a member of Celestial Chapter #6, OES, where she held the title of Past Worthy Matron, A Past Grand Officer of Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars, Inc. Jurisdiction of Massachusetts and a member of Syria Court #10 Daughters of Isis, Oasis of Boston, Desert of Massachusetts. Although she held many titles, the one she was most proud of was being a child of God.
Bether was preceded in death by her daughter: Angela Cole Corbitt; brothers Lemmie Cole, Winford McGriff, Jr., sister: Patrice Cole and honorary sisters: Reola Horsley and Barbara Jackson.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace. Her memory is cherished by her devoted husband of many years, Warley Williams, her beloved son: Gary L. Cole (Trace); her stepsons: Warley Williams, Jr (Caroline) and Tyrone Williams. Better is also lovingly remembered by her sisters: Dorothy Cole of Alabama and Shirly Bell (Billy) of Mississippi; her brothers: Floyd Cole, Jr., Edward Earl Cole (Beverly), Eddie F. Cole (Suzetta), and Pastor Windell McGriff (Tammy) all of Alabama.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Latoya Murrell and Marcus K. Cole of Brockton, Myles K. Coles of Boston and Christine Hardy of North Carolina and her great grandchildren: Lamaree Murrell, Shamariah Cole, Aiden Marshall, Ethan Hardy, Carter Crooms, Caleb Crooms, Siyella Cole, Izaac Cole, Kamira Cole, Dante Williams, Kianna Williams and Trynaty Williams.
