Billy Williams Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Billy Joe Williams, who left this world peacefully on November 4 at the age of 85. Born January 26, 1940 in Idaho, Ohio, no one worked harder or loved deeper. He spent his life making sure his family was taken care of, always giving everything he had. He was a friendly, mischievous and fun-loving man who gave everyone a nickname as a gesture of his affection and quick wit. If you knew him, you likely had one and you wore it like a badge of honor. His laughter filled every room, and his stories, jokes, and gentle teasing forged bonds that will last long beyond his years. Whether swapping stories with friends, sharing a laugh with family, or simply sitting quietly beside his wife, he created a sense of warmth and belonging that will be deeply missed. A truck driver, logger and tavern owner, he threw his full heart and muscle into everything he did. His strength was the stuff of legend. A gentle giant with the arms and strength of Popeye, he was a formidable arm-wrestling champion. He famously hit a softball 425 feet and it only didn't go farther because it was stopped by a church window.
A longtime member of South Side Church of Christ, Bill never met a stranger. He had a gift for connection and a heart big enough to hold a wide circle of lifelong friends, many of whom felt more like family. He always had time to lend a hand, share a laugh, or enjoy a good meal with friends. His circle of friends was as wide as it was deep, and his absence will be felt by many far beyond his immediate family.
He married the love of his life, Deanna Mae, with whom he shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage. Their marriage was a true testament to devotion, partnership, and enduring love.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Hopkins; his children, Steve Williams, Scott Williams (Kristi), and Bill Williams (Missy); his grandchildren, Danny Ray Williams (Nikki), BJ Williams (Stephanie), Kendra Hammond (Tyler), Dylan Williams, Aaron Pierce (Sandy), Brandon Pierce (Brooke), Ben Williams (Katelyn), Alex Williams (Megan), Ryan Williams (Olivia), Cole Williams (Aiden), and Lucas Williams; nine great-grandchildren; honorary grandson, Justin Gaddis; and devoted niece, Elizabeth Leeth, all of whom adored him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Danny Williams (Loree), and his cherished daughter, Kathy Pierce (Bob); his parents, Willard and Edith Williams; and his sister, Sue Williams, whom he now joins in eternal peace. There will be no formal funeral, but a simple graveside service will be held Saturday, November 8, in his beloved Ohio, where he grew up and where his heart always remained. We will gather to celebrate his life, share stories, and honor a man who made everyone feel special and loved.
Though he leaves a huge hole in our hearts, we are grateful for every moment we had with him. We will love him forever and carry his spirit with us always.
