Betsy Branton

Betsy Branton passed away on October 16, 2024. She was born March 4, 1929 in Viola, Arkansas. Betsy moved to Little Rock in 1947 where she attended secretarial school and began work at National Old Line Insurance Company. She met and married Eddie Branton, her husband of 38 years, in 1949. Her first career was as a homemaker. She raised four children prior to returning to work as the first administrative assistant of the Pulaski County Election Commission in 1973. She was a lifelong member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church where she went to work following her divorce. Starting at the receptionist desk, she went on to work in the positions of administrative assistant to the senior pastor, catering manager, and finally retired for the third time as administrator of the Columbarium. Betsy lived a long, rich, and full life centered around her church and family. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Betsy was preceded in death by Eddie Branton, her parents Dave and Corene Schauffler, brothers Burton, Tom, and Robert Schauffler, sister Arnetta Schauffler, and granddaughter Chandler Branton. Betsy is survived by her children, Allen Branton (Gretel Branton) of Bozeman, MT; Andy Branton (Karen Branton) of Little Rock, AR; Chris Branton (Deana Clover) of Springfield MO; and Susan Branton (Bobby Linville) of Rogers, AR; her grandchildren, Liberty Bock (Tim Bock) of Los Angeles, CA; Matthew Branton of Suttons Bay, MI; Leah Philbrook (Matthew Philbrook) or St. Petersburg FL;Anna Linville Johnston (Mark Johnston) of Lowell, AR; and Corene Bressler (Derek Bressler) of New York City, NY; her brother Jake Schauffler of Medford, OR; and her sister Linda Free of Chuckey, TN; and many loving nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service Tuesday, October 22nd at 2:00 pm at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock, AR and a Graveside Service at Mt.Calm Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulaski Heights Methodist Church Betsy S. Branton Endowment Fund.
