Betsy J. Greeley, 68, of Norwich, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital following a heart attack.
Born on May 25, 1956, in Norwich, Betsy is a daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Ostrom) Hoke. She attended elementary school in Norwich and later in South New Berlin until her father found employment in New Hampshire when Betsy was in ninth grade. She graduated from Nashua High School and shortly after moved back to Norwich. She later gained her associates degree from SUNY Morrisville. Betsy worked for the Norwich City School District as an office secretary in the district office, the middle school, and at Perry Browne. She will be remembered for always having a smile, being kind, and having a great sense of humor while at school.
On March 9. 1974, in Nashua, NH, Betsy married John Greeley. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together, where they took a Caribbean cruise to honor the special occasion.
Betsy was a voracious reader, an avid baker, and loved traveling, especially with her good friends, Dan and Eileen Lawyer. Betsy and John spent summers in Maine at their summer residence.
Betsy is survived by her loving husband, John Greeley; son, Tracy (Jessica) Greeley, of Delmar, NY; grandchildren, Nicholas Greeley and Maddox Greeley; son-in-law, Marc Michaels, of Temple, PA; sisters, Heidi Spaulding, of West Townsend, MA and Patti Hoke, of Sherburne, NY; her “wolf pack” friends, Sue Grenier, Mary Klockowski, Barb Hotchkin, and Linda Tucker, all of Norwich, NY; sister-in-law, Linda (Rich) Natoli, of Norwich, NY; brother-in-law’s, Timothy (Patty) Greeley, of Lockport, NY, Peter Greeley, of Unadilla, NY, and Phillip Greeley, of Norwich, NY; countless friends; and many nieces and nephews. Betsy was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Mary (Greeley) Michaels; and sister, Holly Stetson.
Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
