Betsy Propst Lefkowitz

Betsy Propst Lefkowitz, age 98 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 9, 2025, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living in Elkins, WV.
She was born Tuesday, September 6, 1927, at Moore, WV, a daughter of the late Elmer Floyd Propst and Florence Norman Propst-Schilansky. She was twice married. First to Andrew Jay "Pete" Shaffer, and second to Philip Lefkowitz, who both preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Larry Allen "Mike" Shaffer of Holly Meadows; three grandchildren, Bernard "Dale" Shaffer and wife Melissa, Michael Allen Shaffer and wife Cynthia and Shelly Michelle Renee Bolyard; and five great granddaughters, Carleigh Bolyard, Paige Shaffer, Ava Shaffer, Tiffany Shaffer and Amanda Ferguson.
Preceding her in death are one son, Elmer Pat Shaffer; two daughters-in-law, Rebecca Shaffer and Brenda Shaffer; one brother, James Norman Propst; and one sister, Cynthia Corina Roberts.
Betsy attended Parsons High School. She was a manager in a dress shop in Baltimore, MD for twelve years and then moved to Connecticut and worked in a dress shop there for five years and a jewelry store for seven years.
Betsy enjoyed shopping, going out for lunch and dinner, reading, crossword puzzles and studying people. She was a member of the Temple Emmanuel.
Services will be private and final rites will then take place at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Tucker County Animal Shelter.
