Betsy Poythress Little, 80, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14,2025, with her husband and daughter by her side.
Betsy was born on October 2, 1944, in Henderson, NC to the late Joseph Oliver Poythress and Katie Hester Poythress. She was a beloved daughter, wife and mama.
After graduating from Henderson High School, Betsy worked as an administrative assistant then became a registered nurse after she graduated from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg.
Betsy worked as an RN for over 25 years. She began her nursing career at the National Rehabilitation hospital in Washington, DC. After returning to Fayetteville, she worked as an RN with Highsmith Rainey Hospital, Kemper Home Health Care and Carelink of Cape Fear Valley Health system, where she retired.
Throughout her life, Betsy enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains as well as visiting gardens and museums with her family. She also had an appreciation for cooking, listening to music, singing, bird watching and was an avid reader.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and was always there to help them.
She was beautiful inside and out, intelligent and full of kindness, strength, grace, loyalty, patience, empathy and compassion. She was genuine and dedicated in everything she did.
Betsy was an amazing mama who shared a special bond with her daughter through her wisdom and steadfast love and support.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Oland B. Little; son, David Reaves and daughter, Amanda P. Little
The family will have a private graveside service. Entombment will follow the funeral service in the mausoleum at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
