Bette Ray Biter, 88 of Olney, passed from this life July 4, 2023 in Graham, TX. Bette was born May 2, 1935 in Olney to the late Carl and Willie (Leberman) Wainwright. She graduated from Olney High School in 1953 and went on to business college.
Bette met Bob Biter and fell in love. The two were married in 1961 in Dallas, and
they moved to Wichita Falls to begin their life together.
Bette was creative and loved to work with her hands. She created stylish suits for her daughter, crafted pieces of stained glass - both for gifts and by commission - and designed beautiful quilts.
Bette enjoyed volunteering in church activities, especially Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also donated her creative gifts to the church, working year-round creating crafts that were sold at the annual church bazaar.
Bette loved the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, and always looked forward to mother-daughter trips to Las Vegas.
Bette established two small businesses: one in Wichita Falls and another in New Orleans.
Bette was a devoted Christian, loving wife, and doting mother. She was very proud of her family and instilled her strong work ethic in her daughter.
Later in life, Bette and Bob moved to Nocona, where Bob had been born and raised. They built a house in the country, and that was her happy place.
After Bob's sudden death in 1995, Bette bought and ran Jack's Auto in Nocona until 1997, when she decided to move to Dallas to be closer to her daughter.
Bette is survived by her daughter, Kenda Biter of Plano, TX; sister Carla Perry of Olney; brother Don Wainwright of Olney, and many other relatives whom she loved dearly.
Bette's passing leaves a great empty space in the world, and a heavy spot in the hearts of her family. They do, however, take comfort that she will receive the heavenly reward Jesus has prepared for her.
Bette's funeral will be 10:00AM, Saturday, July 8, at Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona, TX.
