Bette Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 11, 2026.
Bette Jean Huskins Davis, 91, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on February 5, 2026.

Born on February 17, 1934, in Bakersville, North Carolina, Bette was the youngest of ten children born to Walter Carol and Fanny Lou (Buchanan) Huskins.

Bette graduated from Bowman High School in Bakersville in 1952, where she distinguished herself as co-captain of the girls' basketball team and was honored as Football Queen. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Wade Arthur Davis. Together they shared 69 devoted years of marriage until his passing.

In 1967, Bette and Wade moved to Virginia, where she began a long and respected career at the University of Virginia Hospital. She retired as Director of Utilization Review, a role that reflected her professionalism and integrity.

Above all else, Bette cherished her family. She is survived by her two sons, Reg Davis (Elizabeth) and Jeff Davis (Jill); ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a kind, nurturing, loving, generous, and steadfast presence in their lives, and her legacy lives on through them.

Bette will be remembered for her grace, strength, and unwavering support of those she loved. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Condolences maybe sent to the family on the tribute wall.
