Bette Hahn Obituary

Bette was born in Wray, CO to Ray and Alma Hildreth. Her brother, Robert, was still born in 1931, so Bette was greatly cherished by her parents. Bette graduated from high school in Milliken, CO in 1951. She began college studies at University of Northern Colorado, but she withdrew during her second year when she contracted Rheumatic Fever.

Bette married Orba H. Hahn in 1956. Their daughter, Julie, was born in 1960 and their son, David, was born in 1973. Lisa Chillingarian and Jess Rector later lived with the family for several years.

Bette began her more than 40-year Federal Civil Service career with the Social Security Administration office in Greeley. After working for several other Federal agencies, Bette was one of the early employees of the Environmental Protection Agency office in Denver, which was her favorite assignment. She received multiple awards for her mentoring new employees. She was also active in Toastmasters International and took periodic college courses.

Bette learned to play the piano as a child. She started playing for church services at age 9. She played skillfully for many church services at Aurora Hills Church in Aurora, CO and many other congregations. She was enjoying her home piano until four months before her death.

Bette's husband, Orba, died in 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Stauffer, and her son, David Hahn and his wife, Karen. Bette's grandchildren are Alexia, Jakob, Asher, and Zachary.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 25, beginning at 3:00pm. Family and friends are welcome for visitation at 2:30, prior to the service start. Services will be held at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave.
