Bette Simpson

Bette Jane Simpson, a creative and loyal woman, passed away on November 19, 2023. Born in Coffeyville, Kansas on February 16, 1941, to Benjamin and Elizabeth Mavers, Bette made a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to cross her path. She was a thoughtful and loving individual, who dedicated over 40 years of her life to Condon National Bank, where she meticulously served as a bank teller and in bookkeeping. Bette had a keen eye for detail, which was equally reflected in her passion for arts and crafts. Crocheting, cross-stitching, and painting were more than hobbies, they were avenues through which Bette expressed her creativity and touched the lives of others.
Bette was a dedicated member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she lived out her faith with devotion. The words of the Psalmist, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12) were a guiding principle in Bette's life. Her wisdom and love are deeply embedded in the hearts of her family and friends. She was a woman of virtue, consistently demonstrating her love and loyalty to her family, which she held dear above all else.
Bette is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Randall Roberts, and her cherished grandsons, Jake and Benjamin Roberts. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence ( Ed) Simpson, her father, Benjamin Mavers, her mother, Elizabeth Mavers, and her siblings, Carl, Helen, Paul, and Donald Mavers. As we mourn her departure, we also celebrate the life of a woman who made the world a brighter place with her love, loyalty, creativity, and thoughtfulness.
Following Bette's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
A Rosary Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father James Schibi officiating. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
