Bette Sternard, 70, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Door County Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1955, in Sturgeon Bay to Raymond and Lorene (Neinas) Brey.
Bette graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1973 and then attended Gateway Technical School in Kenosha where she earned an associate degree in Applied Science and Horticulture Marketing. She later studied at and graduated from the American Floral Art School in Chicago.
Bette married Glenn Sternard at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Institute on October 4, 1975. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Julie. While raising her family, Bette worked as a floral designer at Colombo's Flowers. She continued her career as a designer working for Birmingham's and Maas Floral and Green House until the time of her passing. During her career, she was a long time and active member of the Peninsula Planters Club, having served as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Bette was well known and respected for her talent and creativity as a designer throughout the county, adding beauty to all kinds of life events for decades. But she was more admired for her warmth and pleasant personality.
Bette was a dedicated member of Corpus Christi Parish where she served on the worship committee and took pride in decorating the church and taking care of all the church's flowers and plants. Bette's faith in God was her priority in life. It was her daily guide for living and gave her strength in times of trial. Her love for God was reflected in her selfless love for others.
Bette was also a devoted member of the WWOW, a social group of high school friends, who enjoyed traveling and partying together for years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, creating personalized cards for family and friends, and being active in the community. Most of all, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Flower Grandma".
Bette will always be remembered for her warm and lovable nature, selflessness, kindness, her great sense of humor and intoxicating laugh, and her lighthearted and positive attitude toward life.
