Bettie Joyce Churchwell

Bettie Joyce Churchwell, 85, of Van Buren, Arkansas was called home by her Heavenly Father on February 23, 2023. Bettie was born April 28, 1937 in San Saba, Texas to Jim and Minnie Crim Sutton. Bettie was a member of Rena Road Church of Christ in Van Buren and she enjoyed bowling, crocheting and was an avid reader.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Minnie Sutton, daughter Deborah Mae Braun, Sister Dean Saunders and brother Charles Sutton. Bettie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wylie of the home, children, Michael Churchwell and his wife Judy of Quitman, Arkansas, Sandra Bullock and her husband Brian of New Bern, North Carolina, Sarina Freitag and her husband Royce of Wimberley, Texas and Marc Churchwell and his wife Cathi of Knoxville, Tennessee, sister Glenda Partridge of Arlington, Texas as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Bettie's funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Lewis Funeral Chapel 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith with David Banks officiating. Interment will be at approximately 2:30 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Tecumseh Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2023 at the funeral home.
