Bettie Pittman, age 91, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at her home in Batesville, MS.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 at Bethany Independent Baptist Church in Courtland, MS with the interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
Born on June 8, 1934, in Taylor, Mississippi, Bettie's warm spirit and vibrant personality touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was a devoted member of Bethany Independent Baptist Church in Courtland, Mississippi, where she found great joy in attending church functions and engaging with her community. Bettie had a passion for dancing and loved listening to live music, pursuits that brought her immense happiness throughout her life. Her greatest delight, however, came from spending time with her family and friends, cherishing every moment of connection and love.
Bettie is survived by her three daughters: Debbie Pittman Downs (William) of Batesville, Laura Pittman of Batesville, and Janet Pittman Whitworth of Batesville. She also leaves behind two brothers, Billy Mills of Pope and Donald Mills of Batesville, and a sister, Linda Hargett of Mt. Home, Arkansas. Bettie's legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Justin Downs, Tyler Pittman, Phillip Appleton, and Austin Whitworth, as well as five great-grandchildren, Lacey Beth Downs, Morgan Downs, Darren Whitworth, Maci Whitworth, and Kinley Whitworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Linder and Velma Berlie McMinn Mills, fourteen siblings, and her grandson, Michael Downs.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to Bethany Independent Baptist Church, 4112 Hubbard Road, Courtland, MS 38620.
