Bettie Virginia (Rossiter) Philson, 94, of Stoneboro, PA, passed away on August 19, 2025. She was born on December 14, 1930, to the late John Lyman Rossiter and Mary Adela Zahniser. She married her late husband Robert K. Philson on December 16, 1950.
Bettie was a lifelong member of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, crocheting, and doing crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. Bettie was an animal lover who cherished fond memories of past pets. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her children have memories of her whistling which signaled that it was time to come home after a day of play. Bettie could often be found sitting next to her husband, Bob, at her children’s sporting events. She enjoyed listening to Big Band Era music, specifically Bunny Berigan. Bettie sewed her daughters’ school clothes when they were young.
Bettie had 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Thomas Philson (Susan Briggs), Tracy Philson, Terry “Chuck” (Cindy) Philson, and Linda Urey; her grandchildren, Kelly Philson, Melissa (Ryan) McCreary, Joel (Lilia) Urey, Jared Urey, and Michaela (Jacob) Yerden; her great grandchildren, Kendra Niglio, Aidan & Mason McCreary, and Asher & Kroy Urey.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Michael “Buck” Philson, and her son-in-law, Dan Urey.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St, Stoneboro, PA, 16153. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday, August 25 from 12pm-2pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2pm officiated by Pastor Willard Morse.
Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
