Betty Ruth Baker passed away at age 89 on the evening of May 8, 2023. She was born in Canton, Georgia on October 1, 1933, to the late Lewis and Ether Howard. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William Junior Baker, who passed away in 1995, her husband, Dewey Meers, who passed away in 2015; her sons Michael and Billy Wright; her granddaughters Dani Wright and Kris Holcomb-Wright, along with five of her siblings.
Betty is survived by her grandchildren Will (Christina) Wright, and Lani Mason; her six great-grandchildren Danielle, Rachel, Mike, Tori, Izzy, and Gabby; and her brother Hoyt Howard.
Betty worked in the insurance business for over 50 years, working with many different companies. She was known for her work ethic and intelligence in her endeavors. Betty worked tirelessly, always looking for new and better ways to deliver what her clients needed. The words of her colleagues and friends that best describe her are organized, detailed, cheerful, positive, dedicated, and fierce. Betty was loving and kind to those in need, and always willing to help a friend. She was a lifetime member at New Harmony Baptist Church. Betty loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2023, at New Harmony Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia with Rev. Pete Martin and Rev. Johnny Purcell officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Ingrams.
Interment will follow in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
