Betty Lousinda Blackmon, was born February 28 th, 1948, to Eddie and Fannie Parker-Musgrove in Vian, Oklahoma. Having graduated from Vian High, she went on to attend Northeastern State College where she received her Master's. She later went on to establish her own business, Parker/Blackmon and Associates where she continued to fight for social injustice. She continued her career in Social Work, having received her PhD. Betty went on to attend UMCK as a professor in Social Work, where her passion bloomed further through her students, where she encouraged them to fight for what they want in life despite the hardships. Many of her students and professors alike adored her compassion, her resolve and her commitment to racial injustice no matter where. While being a professor full time she traveled nationwide to attention lectures as both a speaker and an attendee. Betty enjoyed educating the minds of all those who listened to her to navigate both educational, social and everyday injustice.

Betty leaves behind her brother Elmer Musgrove and her nephews Damon Jefferson and his family as well as her "adopted" son Derek Jefferson.

She will be truly missed and loved by many.
