Betty Jo Botts, age 84, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025. Born on December 17th, 1940, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Charles W. Blair and Merle C. Blair, Betty Jo grew up surrounded by love and support. She graduated from Miami High School, where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, John R. Botts. The two were united in marriage on May 23rd, 1957, at the First Assembly of God in Miami, Oklahoma, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, and memories.
Betty Jo and John were blessed with three sons and one daughter, and their love for each other and their children was unwavering. In the early years of their marriage, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where John began his career with Boeing Aircraft Company. In 1965, they relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where John continued his work with McDonnell-Douglas, and the family put down roots in the community. In 1972, they made their way to Owasso, Oklahoma, where they spent the next 52 years creating a beautiful home and building lasting relationships with friends and neighbors.
Betty Jo was a woman of remarkable strength and determination. She later earned her GED and attended business school, a testament to her desire for personal growth. She and John celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 23rd, 2007, a milestone that highlighted the enduring love and commitment they shared.
Professionally, Betty Jo worked for the Gold Bond Stamp Store in Miami, Oklahoma, before moving on to Fluid Components in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she dedicated 19 years of service before retiring. Her work ethic and dedication to her family and career were evident in all aspects of her life.
Beyond her career, Betty Jo was deeply involved in her church and community. She served as PTA vice president, secretary, homeroom mother, and den mother, always willing to lend a helping hand. She was also a devoted Sunday school teacher and held the position of vice president of the women's ministry. Her love for music led her to sing in the church choir and as a soloist, where her beautiful voice touched the hearts of all who heard her. She and John were often seen as greeters at church, welcoming others with warmth and kindness.
Betty Jo had a deep love for life and spent her spare time doing things that brought her joy. She was an avid gardener, often tending to her small garden with care and attention. She also loved attending gospel singing events, where she could share in the music and fellowship of others. In quieter moments, Betty Jo found peace in crocheting delicate doilies, a craft she mastered over the years.
Betty Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John R. Botts, who passed away on December 14, 2021, and her son, Charles W. Botts, who passed away on May 17, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. Blair and Merle C. Blair, and her grandparents, Clarence Timmons and Florence Timmons.
She is survived by her children: John Michael and Brenda Botts of Broken Arrow, Steve and Rhonda Botts of Owasso, Caryn Deann Hoffman and David of Grove, Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law Stephanie Botts. Betty Jo is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends, all of whom will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Betty Jo's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
