Betty Brzoza passed peacefully at home on January 3, 2026 surrounded by family and going into the waiting arms of her husband Ben. She was 84.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Eugene and Mildred Smith. She had graduated from Frankford High School. In 1976, along with her husband Ben, they opened their own real estate business, Liberty Realty Services, Inc as co-brokers. In 1986 she changed her career path and worked for four and half years at the Bucks County Council of Alcoholism, Inc. In 1991 she found her final position of work to be at Synergis Technologies Inc due to the appreciation of “family values” in a business that she had sought and served as the CFO. She had obtained an Associates of Science degree in Business Administration from Bucks County Community College in 1986. In 1991 she had graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Gwynedd Mercy College.
She was preceded in death after a marriage of 56 years to Bernard Brzoza. She was the loving mom of Ben Jr and Beth Ann. She was the cherished “G-mom” of Danielle Brzoza, Tom Brzoza, married to Jane (Scheuerer), Emily Tarnoff and Ashley Tarnoff who is currently engaged to Jesse Duncan. Betty is survived by her siblings, Robert Smith, James Smith and sister Susan married to brother-in-law James Creevey. She was also preceded by in-laws, Joseph Brzoza, Rose Baldaya (Brzoza) and Joan Gittings (Brzoza). And also preceded in death by her life’s later companion, Jim Rickards. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic she served as Treasure to the St. Ephrem Seniors Group. Her outstanding showing of support , kindness, love to others along with her outstanding business decision making was a strength that cannot be forgotten. She enjoyed traveling, country and gospel music and spending time with her family and friends. Betty’s loving spirit and warm heart will surely be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Betty’s viewing on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am; followed by her funeral mass starting at 11:00 am, both held at St. Ephrem Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem PA 19020.
