Betty Jo Davis
January 14, 1934 – February 15, 2026
Austin, Texas • Pflugerville, Texas

Betty Jo Davis (née Hickman), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on January 14, 1934, in Austin, Texas, Betty lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and devotion to the people she held dear. For the past 20 years, she called Pflugerville, Texas, her home — a place where she continued to be a constant source of warmth and joy for all who knew her.

In her earlier years, Betty had a spirit for adventure. She and her husband Jimmy loved exploring the country by train alongside cherished friends, building memories that lasted a lifetime. Together, they also shared a passion for horse racing, cheering on their very own racehorses with excitement and pride. Whether trackside or on the rails, Betty embraced life with enthusiasm and a smile that lit up every room.

Betty dedicated many meaningful years to the Austin Independent School District (AISD), where she built lasting friendships with her colleagues. The bonds she formed there were a testament to her genuine, caring nature — she had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved.

In retirement, Betty poured her heart into her family. She was her daughter Denise's greatest supporter, her grandchildren's loudest fan, and the undisputed champion of banana pudding — a title no one dared challenge. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, and her presence was a gift. She always made sure everyone around her was taken care of, often putting others first without a second thought.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, James F. Davis (Jimmy), whose memory she carried with her every day; her parents, Earl and Magalene Woods Hickman; her brother, Earl Hickman Jr.; and her sister, Louise Hibbs.

She is survived by her only child, Denise Prinz and husband James; grandchildren Daniel (Seyward), Mark (Debra), John, and Jayme Prinz; seven great-grandchildren, Emerson, Kayln, Amery, Harper, Kinzlee, Emmett, and Bayley; one great-great-grandchild, Mateo; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty Jo Davis leaves behind a legacy as warm as her smile — one of unconditional love, steadfast devotion, and a banana pudding recipe that will be passed down for generations.
