Betty June Glass, of Salisbury, MD, passed peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, June 1, 2025, on her 95th birthday.
Betty was born on June 1,1930 in Leachville, Arkansas to the late Regina Faye Bliss and Alva James Bray Sr. She spent her early years in Vicksburg, MS. While times were tough during the Depression, she, her Mother and siblings experienced a simple and good life with each other. She especially liked going to the all day movie shows, sewing and playing baseball and basketball.
She married and moved to the Washington, DC area and was a part owner of restaurant establishments in Alexandria, VA. She had 6 children during her first marriage: George Hartford Welch, Sherri Gaye Welch, Guy Wren Welch Jr., Patricia Lynne Welch, James Michael Welch, (Infant Girl)
She met and married her current spouse of 64 years, Peter Glass Jr., and was a homemaker along with working at times as a merchandiser for American Greetings and Gibson Cards, and as an associate for Woolworth's in Marlow Heights, MD. She performed volunteer work at her daughter's schools: St. John's in Clinton, MD and La Reine High School in Suitland, MD, was an avid bowler for many years and coached bowling for the Clinton, MD Boys & Girls Club.
She had 4 children from her current marriage: Mark Allen Glass Sr., Christine Louise (Glass) Hamilton, (Infant Sons)
Betty was an incredible Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, seamstress, cook, baker, card player and will be remembered for her selfless love of her family and friends. She loved lady bugs, owls, hummingbirds, flowers, crossword puzzles and spent many hours watching her birds in her yard. She had a great sense of humor and her biggest legacy is of building a large, loving family that can look to her as the ultimate example of love.
She is survived by her Beloved Spouse of 64 years, Peter Glass Jr.; Sister Norma Bray; Her Loving Children: George Welch, Sherri Million, Guy Welch Jr. (Cindy), Patricia Kuhl (Wayne), Mark Glass (Virginia) and Christine Hamilton (Christopher); Grandchildren: Cynthia Million, Jeffrey Kuhl (Stephanie), Andrew Million (Cindy), Stacy Bassett, Skylar Welch, Mark Glass Jr., Erica Twoohey, Peter Clelland and Elizabeth "Lisi" Clelland (Yamen); Great Grandchildren: Rianna, Michaela, Kyle, Gavin, Lexi, Dillan, Whitney, Colby, Hazel and Rinoa.
Preceded in death by her Siblings Alma Bray, Christine Rasberry, Ruth Buchanan, Alva J. "Sonny" Bray and Son James Michael Welch and Infant children.
Family and friends are welcome to gather Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. in Clinton, MD, from 10am with Funeral Services beginning at 11am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton MD.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, and/or the American Heart Association.
