NEW CASTLE – Betty Sue Gosnell, 80, of New Castle, Indiana and formerly of Straughn, passed away at her home while surrounded by family in the early morning hours of December 30, 2025. A daughter of the late Clarence Bradley and Audra Lee (Shoopman) Stewart. Betty was born on December 17th, 1945, in Albany, Kentucky. She married Hubert "Ralph" Gosnell on October 30, 1968. They were married for 38 years until his passing on November 20, 2006. Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 169 in Cambridge City, Indiana and enjoyed playing bingo, gambling and visiting casinos, where she somehow always came out ahead.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Rhonda Stewart and Loretta (David) Gorman; 8 grandchildren, Lisa Anderson, Malcolm Denney, Jamie (Jimmy) Kennedy, Heather Tripp, Ashley (Devin) Nickelson, Angela (Travis) Longnecker, Justin (Jasmine) Sparks, Jacob Sparks, and daughter in law, Angelia Sparks; many great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene, Brad, and Robert Stewart; sisters, Lucille Pierce, Janie Siggers and Nancy Stewart.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; son, Allen Sparks on October 23, 2025; and her brother, Tommy Stewart on November 16, 2020.

Visitation for Betty will be held Monday January 5th, 2026, from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Following cremation, she will be laid to rest with Ralph at the Lewisville Cemetery in Lewisville, Indiana.
