Betty A. Hale, born on September 23, 1941, in Quaker City, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of George and Mabel (Casterline) Voorhes.
Betty graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1959. Betty sang in the church choir at Wooster Highway Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life, Jack Hale. Their friendship quickly grew into something more, and the couple was married on July 5, 1959, beginning a lifetime full of love.
She was a homemaker for many years until she decided to put herself through nursing school. While she was in school, she made sure she had dinner on the table for her family every night. Betty dedicated her life to caring for others. She will be remembered for her generosity and giving nature. She worked as a registered nurse at Union Hospital for 15 years and later retired in 2004 from the Tuscarawas County Health Department after over nine years of service. Her compassion and commitment left a lasting impact on her community.
Betty was a true busybody and tireless worker, always on the move and rarely seen sitting still - there was always something to do, and she made sure it all got done. In her personal life, Betty found joy in sewing and crafts, often creating heartfelt items for friends and family. Betty was the go-to seamstress for prom and homecoming dresses, known for her skill, creativity, and perfect fit.
Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and school activities.
She will be sadly missed by her husband; Jack Hale; her children, Monty Hale, Kevin (Suzanne) Hale, Chris Hale; daughter-in-law, Paula Hale; grandchildren, Jack Hale, Hayden Hale, Landon Hale, Ally (Kyle) Perkins, Kennedy Hale, Brody Hale, and Ella (Hunter) Sommars; great-granddaughter, Ellorie Perkins; her brother in-law, Dave Mason; along with her good friends and neighbors, Mike and Lisa DeMattio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Martin and Alma Mason.
Betty will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for those around her.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Inurnment will take place at Dover Burial Park. To sign an online guestbook for Betty, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website.
