Celebrating the life of Betty Hopkins Haney, born on May 5, 1941, and passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Rome, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph S. Hopkins and Mamie Morris Coley. Betty was born and raised in Cedartown, Georgia, graduating from Cedartown High School in 1959. She was a member of Bremen First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the two-year-old class for many years. Betty was also a dedicated servant to her community, formerly serving in Bremen's Pilot Club. She brought joy and warmth to everyone she met, brightening the world with her kindness and laughter.
She retired from the Georgia Department of Mental Health after thirty years of service where she was known for her meticulous nature and friendly spirit, earning the admiration of her colleagues.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Bill Haney; her cherished children, David Haney (Julie), Christy Kisor (Gregg), and Lisa Covalsen; her beloved grandchildren, Emily Hardin (Trey), Abby Wickman (Tyler), Bryce Haney, Sarah Haney, Lexi Covalsen, and Nicholas Covalsen; and great grandchildren, Annie Hardin, Marshall Hardin, Wes Hardin and Rivers Wickman. Her legacy of kindness, warmth, and resilience will live on in each of them.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Betty's life on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with the family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, celebrate her legacy, and relish the love that she spread throughout her life.
