Betty M. Harrington

Virginia Beach, VA - Betty (Meads) Harrington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 89. Born on August 30, 1937, in Weeksville, NC, Betty lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure.

From an early age, Betty's compassionate spirit shone brightly. She pursued a nursing degree and served as a Registered Nurse for many years, touching countless lives with her care and empathy. In 1983, she embarked on a new journey, co-owning the family business Harrington Graphics alongside her husband and son. Her commitment to both her profession and her family was unwavering.

Betty's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 67 years, Robert A. Harrington Sr., and a cherished mother to her children, Robin Elizondo and her husband Ralph, and Robert A. Harrington Jr. and his wife Lori. Her grandchildren, Alexandra Lynne Harrington and her husband Dr. Alexander Birk, Maximilian Hamilton, and Hollis Hamilton, were the light of her life, bringing her immense pride and happiness.

Beyond her family, Betty had a passion for life that was contagious. She found joy in crocheting, baking, and dancing, including square dancing and love of her dogs. Her adventurous spirit led her and her husband to travel extensively, and the serene beaches of the Outer Banks. Betty was also an aficionado of classic cars, owning a few prized models, and she was an enthusiastic supporter of Duke Basketball.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving parents, John L. and Lillian (Markham) Meads and sister Ann Jane Meads. She leaves behind her devoted husband, children, grandchildren, and her two brothers, Leroy and James Meads, along with other family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
