Betty Ann Holbert, born on November 1, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Betty lived a life full of creativity, intelligence, humor, and deep faith.

A dedicated stay-at-home mom, Betty poured her love and energy into raising her family and filling her home with warmth and imagination. She was exceptionally intelligent; a voracious reader who devoured thousands of books in her lifetime, from science fiction and fantasy to romance. It wasn’t unusual for her to finish two or three books in a single day, fully immersed in the worlds they held.

Betty had an unmatched passion for making things. From sewing clothes and crocheting blankets for animals at the Converse Animal Shelter, to crafting beautiful diamond paintings that now decorate every wall in her home. Most incredible were her handmade miniature dollhouses, built to a quarter scale of historical homes. Each one opened to reveal intricately carpeted and wallpapered rooms, with every detail crafted by her own hands.

Animals held a special place in Betty’s heart. Cats, especially, were her lifelong companions, and she had many throughout the years. Among them, her beloved cat Mickey Fynn brought her immeasurable joy and comfort. Their bond was extraordinary, and his passing was a deep heartbreak for her; a loss she carried with tenderness and love.

Betty loved Summertime, where she had all-night marathons of cards and board games, full of laughter with her husband and daughter. She delighted in giving her husband, Billy, a “hard time,” lovingly bickering in a way that only deep love allows. Their bond, built over 56 years of marriage, was a testament to loyalty, joy, and enduring partnership.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Holbert; her daughter Jeannette “Jeani” Walker and son-in-law John Walker; her grandchildren Mina Walker and Alexander Walker; and her great-grandson Calvin Stivers. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Birk, Frances Lynn, and Carol Scrimpture, and many extended family members and friends who cherished her deeply.

Above all, Betty loved the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ guided her life, and she shared the gospel with conviction and joy. She found peace and strength in her Bible and looked forward to the promise of heaven with open arms.

Betty Ann Holbert will be remembered for her boundless creativity, sharp wit, loving heart, and unwavering faith. She will be missed greatly.
