Betty Imperial

Betty Imperial, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 16, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. A longtime resident of Elmsford, NY, most recently from New City, NY, Betty was born on January 19, 1924, in the Bronx, NY. Her parents were Josephine and Guido Barile.

Betty was the heart and soul of her family. She shared a beautiful 74-year marriage with her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Imperial, whose love and devotion remained with her long after his passing in 2021. Their union was a testament to enduring love—filled with laughter, resilience, and unwavering support.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her four children: her son John, and daughters Dr. Joanne (Matt), Karen (Doug), and Lisa (Romeo). She was a proud and doting grandmother to Max (Belen), Amber (Aaron), Alex, Chris, and Hailey and two great grandchildren…Emiliano and Stetson—each of whom brought her endless joy and pride.

Betty’s warmth and spirit touched every life she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and cherished. Her boundless kindness, deep compassion, and unwavering optimism were the guiding lights of her life. She never judged, only embraced—with love, acceptance, and grace.

To know Betty was to be inspired by her strength, humor, and genuine heart. Her positive outlook, even through life’s most difficult moments, was a beacon of hope for those around her. She lived fully, loved fiercely, and gave generously.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her beautiful life at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY, on Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford, followed by entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale, NY.

Betty will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
