Betty (Alber) Keppen, 85, of Freeport and short time resident of Oakley Courts, made her way to her final home on December 31, 2023. Betty was born on July 24th,1938 to Willy and Emma (Klutz) Alber. A few years after she graduated from Aquin High School, Betty married Laverne Keppen and started a family. The two of them spent many years on a dairy farm and taught their children the meaning of hard work and dedication. After years on the farm, Betty began working for Alber Towing in Freeport working as a dispatcher. Betty will be remembered for her commitment to her family, for her service to others such as the Red Cross or her work doing quilting at Highland College or serving as the organist at her church for over fifty years. She will also be remembered for her amazing trust and faith in God.
Betty is survived by her son Jon (Lori) Keppen of Chadwick, daughters Linda (Jake) Buol of Monticello WI, Joanne Keppen of Houston TX. 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She was preceded by her husband Laverne, daughter Lorraine, her parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
A visitation will be held on Friday January 5, 2024, from 4PM - 7PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 6, 2024 at 11AM, at St Wendelin's Catholic Church, 18 S. Linn St, in Shannon, IL.
A memorial has been established for Operation Smile and St. Jude's Children Hospital

Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 6, 2024 at 11AM, at St Wendelin's Catholic Church, 18 S. Linn St, in Shannon, IL.
