Dustin Keppen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory on Aug. 27, 2024.
Dustin "Dusty" William Keppen, 47, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on August 24, 2024.
Dusty was born on January 22, 1977, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to James "Jim" and Lynnette Keppen. As a child, Dusty was known as the boy with the white hair. He stood out in a crowd for sure!
Dusty went on to stand out in multiple high school sports, with his favorites being baseball and basketball. He eventually went on to play college and professional baseball. You can find Dusty's name dominating the all-time career pitching records at Central Gwinnett High School, Dekalb Junior College, and Kennesaw State University, where he was an All-American. After retiring to the real world, Dusty continued to try to beat everyone in softball, pick-up basketball, tennis, golf, ping pong, pickleball, or any other sport he could find.
However, he could make you laugh as he beat you. Dusty was a natural charmer. He had an innate ability to befriend anyone he met. He greeted everyone with a big bear hug or fist bump. He was widely-loved as a teammate, friend, neighbor and colleague. His kind, laid-back, quietly funny personality drew people in. His instant lovability and way of talking to people was a rare gift.
Dusty's biggest passion in life was being Dad to his amazing children, Westin and Waverley. He loved them so much. His favorite thing to do was to watch them participate in sports. If you wanted to find him, your best bet was going to the closest gym or soccer field. He loved watching them and encouraging them to aspire to be their best in sports- and in life.
Dusty is survived by his wife, Theresa Keppen; his children, Westin and Waverley Keppen; his mother, Lynnette Taylor; his two brothers, Jeff (Jenny) Keppen, Jay (Courtney) Keppen; his sister, Molly Keppen; his nieces, Anna Clare, Flynn and Everly; his nephew, Lennox; his stepmother, Patti Keppen; three stepsisters, Sara Skok, Kaitlin Frederick, and Meghan (Michael) Marotte; and aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention. Preceding him in death was his father, Jim Keppen; stepfather, Bill Taylor; and grandparents, Clare and Mary Keppen, Bill and Dee Alfson, and Bev Trygstad.
A service will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory located at 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. A reception will immediately follow for those who would like to stay to celebrate Dusty's life.
