Betty Lecker, nee Glasbrenner, age 95, passed away peacefully at Brewster Village on Monday, December 2, 2024. She was born on October 28, 1929 in Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Wunderlich) Glasbrenner. Betty worked as a waitress in many area restaurants. She retired from Thrivent. Betty loved her flowers, gardens, and her dogs. She could be seen walking her white dog on Meade Street daily. She was a courageous survivor of both breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Donna (Butch) Wittman, Deb (Mike) Haufe, Cindy (Mark) Gutsmiedl; daughter-in-law, Linda Lecker; grandchildren: Dereck (Cindy), Dale (Missy), and Dion (Jo Ann) Lecker; Terri (Lonnie) Norrod; Wayman (Oksana) Wittman; Daydre (Ryan) Glassmaker; Ashley and Amy Gutsmiedl; 11 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Don Lecker Jr.
The Christian Funeral Service for Betty will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church (302 N. Morrison St., Appleton) with Rev. Matthew Holtz officiating. Family and friends will gather at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
A very special thank you to the staff of Brewster Village for the amazing care that Betty received there, and the compassion shown to Betty's family during her latest illness. Your kindness did not go unnoticed.
