ISLE LA MOTTE - Betty Lockerby, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at The Villa Rehab in St. Albans surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on January 19th, 1933 in Northfield, Vermont to Joe and Vera (Densmore) Hardaker.
Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, devoted community member, and cherished friend. Betty was a warm, compassionate woman who dedicated her life to serving her community and nurturing her family. She was a lifetime member of the Alburgh American Legion Auxiliary and a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star. For many years, she served as a Justice of the Peace for the town of Isle La Motte, a role she embraced with grace and dedication.
Betty had a profound love for the simple joys of life, often spending her days camping at county fairs and reveling in the laughter and love of her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. In her leisure time, she found great delight in watching game shows. Betty will be remembered for her warm heart and her unwavering support for those around her. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and genuine care, expressing the spirit of community and family.
Betty is survived by her children, Vickie Buswell, Judith Bennett, Joseph Lockerby and his wife Sandra, Penny Aldridge and her husband John, Patti Creller, and Gary Lockerby and his wife, Jaye; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sister, Lily Cook. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Vera Hardaker; husband, Alvin Lockerby; siblings, Vera, Edward, Evelyn, Beverly, and Robert.
Friends and family will be invited to Betty's life celebration to include a visitation on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 10-12:00 at the Goss Life Celebration Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00PM at the Isle La Motte Village Cemetery, School Street, Isle La Motte.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Jodie Brunelle, who was Betty's caregiver.
