SAINT ALBANS - Edward "Bud" Hemond, age 79, peacefully passed away on February 21st, 2026, at the Northwestern Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 2nd, 1947, in Saint Albans VT, to the late Rose (Smith) and Edward Robert Hemond Sr.
A man of remarkable talent and vision, Bud began his career at Fonda Container and later went on to start Auto Town USA with his lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Gilbert Tremblay. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch Bud Hemond Construction, where he proudly built hundreds of homes, commercial buildings, condominiums, and developments. Among his many accomplishments, he was particularly proud of creating Maple Grove Estates, a project that showcased his dedication to quality and community. Bud was not only a prominent figure in the construction and real estate industry, but also a passionate sugar maker. He cherished the moments spent sugaring with family and friends, embracing a tradition that brought him immense joy and connected him deeply to the land he loved. Friends and family share countless memories of times spent at the quarry of Maple Grove Estates where Bud happily welcomed everyone. In his final days, Bud found great comfort in the presence of his beloved cats, Tabitha, and Tiger.
Above all, Bud was a family man. His true legacy lies within the hearts of his family and friends and all that knew him. He leaves behind a life filled with love and strength, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Bud's warmth and kindness were felt by all who were fortunate to know him.
