Goss Life Celebration Home - SwantonALBURGH – Robert Brown “Brownie”, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on October 25, 1941, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Bob lived a life filled with love, compassion, and service.
Bob will be fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Gwyneth Brown, and a beloved father and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. His patience, thoughtfulness, and keen sense of humor brought joy to those around him. He was a devoted Christian member of the Union Bible Church in Alburgh for many years.
A proud veteran, Bob served for 13 years in the United States military, where he attended the United States Naval Academy and served as a captain in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. His commitment to serving his country exemplified the qualities of honor and integrity that defined his character. During his time at the Naval Academy, he was on the soccer team when they his school won the National Soccer Championship.
Professionally, Bob worked as an engineer in the automotive industry, contributing his expertise to various companies. His intelligence and dedication to his work were evident, but his true passion lay in spending time outdoors. Bob loved fishing, golfing, watching football and engaging in spirited games of cribbage, where his thoughtful nature shone through in every match. He helped Gwyneth for over 25 years at Henry’s Sportsman Cottages on Lake Champlain.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gwyneth (Gwen); his son, Robert Brown Jr. and his fiancé, Christine and his children, Stephen, Colby and Caylee, and their mother, Lori; his daughters, Robin Manuele and her children, Brody and Gianna, and Ashley Nastwold and her husband David, and their kids, Parker, Gavin, Preston and Lexi; step brother, Michael Jameson; Gwen’s children, Susan Bohannon and Gene Bohannon; Gwen’s grandchildren, Leah Bailey and husband Brian, and Lindsey Poquette; great grandchildren, Landon Olivia, Carter, Calen, Phairaoh and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Maskell and Florence Brown; siblings, Marshall Brown and Carol Fenton; Gwyneth’s children, Deborah Ross and Mary Jane Bohannon; stepmother, Eileen Brown.
Friends and family are invited to Robert’s life celebration to include a memorial service on Friday, February 20th, at 11:00AM at the Union Bible Church, 102 South Main Street, US-2, Alburgh, VT 05440
