Betty Jean Martin, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 18, 2025, at The Serenity House in Tomah.
She was born on April 17, 1932, to Robert and Vera (Kuehl) Schultz. She was raised in the Christian faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomah. Betty was baptized, confirmed, and attended St. Paul Lutheran School, and was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1950. She married her best friend, Norman Martin, on December 11, 1954, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four children: Dale, Dennis, Scott and Rebecca, who they raised in Wilton and Tomah.
Betty joined the family business, Martin Trucking Company Inc in Wilton in 1955, where she did all the bookkeeping. Norman taught her to drive semi, and she followed him on the highway for many trips. They moved the trucking to the Tomah Industrial Park in 1979. Betty continued with the bookkeeping and supervising until she retired. Betty and Norman celebrated over 75 years in the trucking business from 1932-2008, before selling the business.
Betty was a member of two quilting clubs, making over 100 pieced quilts, tie quilts, and baby quilts, which ended up all over the world. She made several quilts and fleece blankets for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
She and Norman loved to travel. She loved traveling in their motor home all over the United States. They went on several cruises to the Caribbean Islands, but their favorite was Alaska.
She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, especially visits from her grand and great children, taking care of her grand dogs, working in her yard and flower garden, and driving her lawn tractor. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
