Mrs. Martin was born in Surry County on July 22, 1943, to the late Herman Moorefield and Nonnie Nunn Moorefield. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Gaye was a very devoted Christian, who was a faithful member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church since joining in 1969. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Penny Hubbard and Bobby; special grandchild, Sydney Martin; special fur-baby, Daisy; brother and sister-in-law, Leon Moorefield and Gayle; many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gaye was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Martin; sisters, Ann Mauldin, Jeanette Szappon, Cookie Jarrell, Frankie Jessup; brother, Tommy Moorefield; nieces, Jenny Martin, Denise Connelly; nephews, Todd Jessup, Darrell Joyce. A celebration of Gayes’ life will be held Monday, November 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Tony Goins and Rev. Mitch Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM until time of the service at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or The Gideons PO Box 1032, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
