Mrs. Shirley Jean Bullins Noah Hawks, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, November 18, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hawks was born May 26, 1943, in Surry County, one of fourteen children born to the late Kemp Glenn and Rosa McCann Bullins. For many years, Shirley served as a certified nursing assistant, a role she embraced with both skill and heart. She was known for her steady hands, warm smile, and the way she treated every patient with dignity and respect. To countless families, she was a source of comfort and reassurance. To coworkers, she was a trusted friend and a quiet strength on even the hardest days. Shirley’s life was also deeply shaped by her faith. She was a member of Friendly Chapel Church and faithfully attended Refuge City Church, where she found fellowship and purpose. She is survived by her stepson and his wife, Aaron Tracy and Debbie Noah; her stepgrandchildren, Derek Noah, Ashlyn Noah, and Alisa Noah; her sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Wade Smith; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Bullins, Junior Bullins, the Rev. Bobby and Barbara Bullins, Jerry and Trina Bullins, Sammy and Carol Bullins, Jackie Bullins, and Louise Bullins; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husbands, Bro. Tommy Edward Noah and Clinton Hawks; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Tom Hayes and Ann and Harold Key; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny Bullins (infant), Eldean Bullins, Maynard and Nancy Bullins, Wade Bullins, and Martha Bullins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Bobby Bullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinnacle View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
