Betty Jean McClintock

Betty Jean "Tude" McClintock, age 76, of McCoole, MD, passed away on Monday November 4, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland, MD.
Born on July 1,1949 in New Creek, WV to the late Lynn Wertman and Roselee (Riggleman) Selders, she also was preceded in death by her husband James Ray McClintock on November 25, 1974; a daughter, Cindy Driver; a great grandson, Brody Morton and her brother-in-law, Gary Hamilton, Sr. Known fondly as "Tude" to her family and friends, she will be remembered as a pillar of her community, a dear friend, and a cherished family matriarch.
Tude spent 18 fulfilling years as the hostess at the Westvaco Club House, where she was not just a hostess but an emblem of the welcoming spirit that defined the club. She also held the proud distinction of being a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser, WV, and Chapter 191, Women of the Moose in Keyser, roles she embraced with passion and dedication.
Tude was an avid reader, finding joy and solace within the pages of countless books. She also held "Tweetie Bird" as her hero and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a game and always ready with enthusiastic commentary. Her love for reading and football was only surpassed by the love she held for her family and friends.
She is survived by her stepfather, Robert "Bob" Carr of Keyser, WV; her children, James McClintock and Cindy of McCoole, MD, Don McClintock and wife Stacey of Keyser, and Susan McClintock of McCoole; her grandchildren, Kristin McClintock, Patrick McClintock, Gabi McClintock, Brooke Morton and husband Cody and Destinee Wittman and husband Logan; great-grandchildren, Carson Pearce, Bentley Morton, and River Wittman; sister Linda L. Hamilton of McCoole, MD; special friends Judy and Tom Duckworth, Carol Dawson, and her extended family with the Keyser VFW and the Westvaco Club House.
Friends and loved ones are invited to the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. to share memories and celebrate Tude's life. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., with Pastor John Langenstein officiating.
Interment will follow at the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
In memory of Tude, we honor not only her life but also the love, strength, and joy she brought into ours. She has left an indelible mark on all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
