Jerry A. Baker

Jerry E. "Buck" Baker, 79, of Keyser, WV, passed away peacefully at his residence on Hooker Hollow Road on Monday, November 4, 2025 while under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.
Buck was born on June 28,1946 in Cross, WV to the late Robert F. and Mary F. (Tasker) Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, June Miller and his brother, Kenneth Baker.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Kay (Braithwaite) Baker; daughters, Cindy Mills and husband Eric; and Shelley Friend and husband Mike, all of Keyser. Also cherishing his memory are his grandchildren, Logan Mills and Ainsley Friend; brothers, Donald Baker, Edward "Duke" Baker and wife Debbie, and Robert Eugene Baker and wife Carol, all of Keyser; sister-in-law, Shirley Baker of New Creek, WV; brother-in-law, Donald Miller of Keyser and numerous nieces and nephews.
A 1964 graduate of Elk Garden High School, Buck dedicated much of his life to the transportation industry, working as a truck driver for several companies, including Masteller Coal, Fairfax Materials, and L. Richard Green Trucking. His pride and joy was his red Mack truck which he cherished dearly.
Buck was an active member of the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly in Keyser, where he nurtured his faith and contributed to his community. He found immense satisfaction in keeping his home and lawn immaculate, often seen riding his Kubota tractor to ensure everything was in order.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Leatherman and Pastor Josh Miller officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Buck will be laid to rest in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
Buck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His dedication to his family, work, and community will forever be remembered. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
