Betty McIrvin Obituary

Betty Anne McIrvin, 90, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Cabot, Ark.

Born on Dec. 13, 1934, in Arkansas City, Kansas, Betty was the daughter of Adam and Mary Etta Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Miriam Mann; her brother, Jack Axley; and her first husband, Kenneth Jerry Buchanan, with whom she shared 48 years of devoted marriage.

Betty found love again later in life and is survived by her husband, Arlen McIrvin of Cabot, Ark. Their companionship was a gift in her later years, bringing joy and comfort to both.

She is also survived by her children, Kendall (Debbie) Buchanan of Southside, Ark., Steve (Amalea) Buchanan of Beebe and Michael McIrvin of McPherson, KS; grandchildren Jason Buchanan, Jody Balentine, Jeff Buchanan, Wendee Richards, Rodney Greenfield, April Simpson and Heath Simpson; and by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought light and laughter to her life.

A woman of deep faith, Betty was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greers Ferry, Ark., where she formed lasting friendships and served her community. A celebration of her life will be held at the church on April 28, 2025, at 10 a.m.
