Betty Murray Merritt

Betty Jean Murray Bartholomew Merritt, 81 of Spring Hope passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born on June 16, 1941, to the late George W. and Anna Belle Bailey Murray. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Lewis Earl Bartholomew, and then David Merritt.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Charlotte Bartholomew; her granddaughters, Katie Bartholomew and Camille Cason (Daniel); her great grandchildren, Lacey-Grace Cason and Cohen Cason; and her sister, Frances Colbert.
Betty was strong in her Baptist faith, she and Lewis Earl were charter members of Friendship Baptist Church in Raleigh where she also served as the church secretary; she was a current member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved her family and invested much time into the lives of her granddaughters. Betty enjoyed cooking and gardening. Frances and Betty were as close as two sisters could be.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-6:45pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Riverside Baptist Church, 1321 Old Dam Rd. Kenly, NC 27542, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00pm. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Lancaster Memorial Park.
