?
Betty Lou Owens departed this life on August 8, 2024, at Parkview Health Care Facility. She was 93 years old, 4 months, and 7 days.
She was born March 30, 1931, to Lester and Nora (Reynolds) Smith. She shared her childhood with six siblings. She talked fondly of memories walking to and from school, chores such as milking, and playful times.
She was united in marriage to Charles Milton Owens in 1949. To this union, three children were born Nora Ann, Darrel Milton, and Gary Lane.
She was saved during a revival at Macedonia Church in 1971. They were closing the revival when she requested, they keep the meeting open. She was saved the following night and then baptized on Easter Sunday. She subsequently joined Macedonia Church.
Faithfully, she read her Bible daily. She loved to listen to gospel music and have conversations about the Lord. She offered countless prayers for her family and generations to come to find salvation.
During her lifetime, she had many professions homemaker, farmer, factory production, in-home healthcare aide, dietary aide, and business owner.
She was an amazing cook. She loved preparing food for daily visitors or family gatherings. Her fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cheeseburgers, angel food cakes, and pies were just a few of the crowd favorites she frequently prepared.
She spent free time sewing, quilting, and doing embroidery work. Throughout her lifetime she gifted numerous quilts and embroidered items to her children and grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Lester and Nora Smith, Husband Charles Milton Owens, Infant daughter Becky, Brothers Eugene Smith (Josephine), Larry Smith (Tish), Lyn Smith (Louise), Sisters Margaret Owens (Gordon), Thelma Weeks (Went), Freda Mae West (Bob).
She is survived by her three children Nora Ann Sharp (Donnie), Darrel Owens (Sandy), and Gary Owens, 13 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
She was truly one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She will be greatly missed.
