Betty Jean Patterson, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the age of 87. A beloved figure of the Bryant community, she was known for her warm and generous heart, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Betty was an avid gardener and found joy in working in her flower gardens and was a collector of outdoor figurines that added charm to her yard. Her talents extended to the kitchen, where she was an excellent cook and baker. Her specialty, the apple cake, was a much-loved treat that she would often give to family and friends. Betty was a member of Bryant Holiness Church.
Betty is survived by her daughters Beverly (Charles) Short and Genie (Roberto) Vigo and her sons Nathan Stamper, Lonnie Stamper, and Paul Stamper. She is cherished by her grandchildren, 13 in total, and her legacy continues with 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind her brothers Danny (Ruby) Pendergrass and Jimmy Pendergrass.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Hobert Patterson, her sons Rodney Lee Stamper and George Stamper, her parents Ira Mack Pendergrass and Molly O'Desser Carter Pendergrass, her sisters Catherine Paris, Mildred Laney, Ophelia Pendergrass, and her brother Charles Pendergrass.
A funeral service to honor Betty's life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM ET in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Bryant Holiness Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM ET until the service hour.
Betty Jean Patterson's life was a testament to love, family, and friendship. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her 87 remarkable years.
