Betty E. Remus, 93, of Farnam, Nebraska passed away at Bryan West Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 19, 2024. Betty was born on March 16, 1931 to Donald J. and Bernice DeLate Swanson on the family farm near Moorefield, Nebraska. She attended grade school in Moorefield and graduated high school in Curtis from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (now known as The University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture). Betty met the love of her life, Loran D. Remus while attending school in Curtis. They were married on October 1, 1949. They lived on a farm near Wellfleet, Nebraska for many years, where they raised their family of four girls. After Lorans death, Betty farmed until December 1997 when she purchased a home and acreage in Farnam; she then worked at the Farnam Post Office until her retirement. She married Walt Norden on October 11, 2000. Betty received tremendous joy in her cats and chickens, but also in the wild turkeys that would congregate in the large trees near her home. It was something to witness every day. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Loran; her second husband Walt; her parents; brother John Arthur Swanson; in-laws Walter and Dortha Remus; daughter Linda G. Williams; granddaughter Tammy Baker; brother-in-laws Don Cole, Grant Remus, Kurt Remus, sister-in-law Lela Remus and nephew Jerry Remus. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024 4:00-7:00 pm at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm. Services will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, 10:30 am, at the Curtis Methodist Church, 402 Center, Curtis, NE, with Pastor Donna Johnson officiating.
