Services for Betty Jane Craig Rushing, 93, will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother James Hazlewood officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Mrs. Rushing, a pastor’s wife for 45 years, a former clerk for Woolworths in Jackson, and a former Colonial Bread route salesman with her husband Vance died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at her son’s residence in Nashville, TN. She was born on March 13, 1930 in Jackson, Tennessee to Shalom and Margaret Craig her mother died when Betty was seven years old and was raised by her grandparents Neal and Mary Cook. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Brother William Vance Rushing who died February 15, 2006 and her daughter in law Mary Rushing and her grandparents whom she was raised by.
Survivors include two sons John T. Rushing of Nashville, David W. (Terri) Rushing of McKenzie, four grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers who will be serving are Anderson Rushing, Maddox Black, Hudson Black, David Beal, Jon-Austin Hugueley, Blake Hugueley, and as honorary John Rushing and Nathan Black.
