Betty Lou Doom Sanders, age 85, of Nashville, TN passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Eddyville, KY but recently attended services at Park Place Assisted living where she resided with her husband, Donald (Don) Sanders.
She was born October 1, 1940, to the late Ray and Imogene Polk Doom. She graduated in 1959 from Lyon County Senior High School in Kuttawa, KY.
Betty was retired after many years in sales in Nashville, TN. She was known for her outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Her and Don spent many hours on the road traveling with friends through camping trips and bus rides, always celebrating life. Although she never had children of her own, she truly loved her nieces and nephews with her whole heart; almost as much as she loved her dogs Adolf and Maggie. One of her greatest accomplishments was recently being crowned Queen of the Valentines Prom at Park Place Assisted Living next to the King, her husband, Don.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Don Sanders; one brother Jimmy Ray Doom (Sue) of Eddyville, KY; one sister, Romona Engler (Herschel) of Eddyville, KY; niece, Pam Doom of Eddyville, KY; nephew, Jeff Doom (Deanna) of Eddyville, KY; nephew Joey Doom (Stephanie) of Lexington, Ky; niece Emily Brown (Rodney) of Eddyville, KY; nephew Brock Engler, Eddyville, KY, step-daughter Lei Loni Karp (Mark) of Mattoon, WI; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Joe Doom and great nephew, Cullan Brown.
There will be a celebration of life service at a later date at Hebron Baptist Church in Eddyville, KY and at Park Place Assisted Living, Hendersonville, TN.
