Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.

Betty Ann Sperr was born on September 6, 1934 as the second born to Art and Ida Amborn of Morris, MN. She grew up on the farm near Herman, MN with her siblings and parents. Betty was confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Herman and continued to live out her faith by attending many Bible Studies, ladies groups, and helping others throughout the years.

Her mother, Ida, passed away when Betty was nineteen, leaving 7 children behind. She did her part to help Art on the farm by being a caregiver to the rest of the family. Betty was hired as a secretary for the Herman school after she graduated from high school, a job that she absolutely loved.

She later met and married Paul Sperr in June of 1958 and resided at their own farm near Donnelly for over 30 years. Four children were born to them during their early years, Rebecca in 1959, Donald in 1960, Roland in 1962, and Duane in 1966. Betty excelled at being a housewife and cook, with several favorite requests such as caramel rolls and apple cuts. In 1990, they moved into a house in Donnelly to enjoy retirement and allow the boys to get started with their careers as farmers.

During these retirement years, Paul and Betty would travel during the winters to do mission work in the south and get away from the cold winters in MN. One of the places she most enjoyed working was the gift shop at Southwest Indian School in Peoria, AZ. There were many treasures there that she bought as gifts for the family during those years.

Betty enjoyed reading, reading, and more reading. Lots of books passed through her hands as she would check them out at the library with her trusty little notebook of favorite authors. She so enjoyed visiting with people and finding out about their lives. Betty was also a fierce competitor in games and won most of the time, whether it was Uno, dominoes, or other various games….she did not like to lose! Attending as many concerts and ball games of the grandkids as she could, Betty was also known as the ‘unofficial scorekeeper’ for the family.

In late 2019, Betty was unable to walk anymore and took up residence in Skyview Plaza assisted living in Morris and then in 2022 moved to Julia’s Place in Hancock where she stayed since.

Betty died peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. She was 90 years old.

Betty is survived by her husband, Paul, of Morris; daughter, Becky of Gillette, WY, sons, Don and Tamela of Morris, Rollie and Tami of Donnelly, Duane and Lori, also of Donnelly; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and brothers Wallace Amborn of Rapid City, SD, Robert Amborn of Watertown, MN, and Gerald Amborn of Minneapolis, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marlene; brothers, Joseph and Michael and son-in-law, Raymond.
