It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Strevig, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Born on January 15, 1929, in Smallwood, Maryland, Betty was the beloved daughter of Thomas B. Gist and Margaret E. Barnhart. She lived a life full of strength, independence, and an unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community.

Betty was predeceased by her devoted husband of 59½ years, George Donald Strevig, as well as her son Allen E. Fields and daughter-in-law Rosalie Fields. She is survived by her sons and Daughter in law, Mark and Disa Strevig, David and Jennifer Strevig; daughters Lisa Strevig and sons in law Bryan Howard, Amy and Tim Dorsey, Lynn Black and partner Jason Grim, and bonus daughter Barbara Farren. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A self-taught baker, Betty became known as "The Town Baker" in Westminster, where she spent over 30 years crafting wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and all sorts of baked goods that brought joy to so many. Her cakes weren't just treats-they were a testament to her precision, dedication, and the love she poured into everything she did.

Betty had a deep love for life's simple pleasures. She adored her dogs, playing cards, was a skilled crocheter and enjoyed traveling the country in her RV. Her winters were often spent basking in the warmth of the Florida Keys, where she could relax and recharge after a lifetime of hard work.

Rest in peace, Betty. You were a force of nature, and we are so grateful to have had you in our lives.
