Betty Swallow, better known as Mom or GaGa, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away in the arms of Jesus with her daughters and grandchildren by her side on August 23, 2025 in Bryan, Texas at the young age of 92. Betty was born in Terrell County, Texas to the late John and Oma Davis.

After marrying F. G. Swallow, she spent most of her life in Clute, Texas before retiring to Marquez, Texas where she lived for 48 years. Betty worked outside the home in the school cafeteria at Clute Elementary, and as an apartment manager (Clute Apartments), before moving to Marquez where she then went to work for Leon ISD as a custodian and bus driver. The saying “home is where the heart is” and she was the absolute heart of the home—a loving and dedicated homemaker and mother to her five daughters and grandson, whom she raised. She was a strong Christian woman who found great joy in providing a loving home to her family and friends. Betty provided a Christian foundation for the home.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years at the time of his death, F. G. Swallow; her parents, John and Oma Payne Davis; her four sisters, Nova Willene Castor, Christine Rayburn, Della Mollenhour, and Violet Davis; granddaughter, Heather Vincent; and son-in-law, Dale Pinson. Betty is survived by her children – Debra Odum and husband, Tommy; Gwen DeLeon and husband Max; Cheryl Pinson; Frankie Wright and husband Ricky; and Pam Vincent. Grandchildren – Michael Swallow and wife Darhonda, Chris Odum, Justin De Leon and wife Stephanie, Joshua Pinson and wife, Emily, Courtney Sutherland and husband Matt, and Kaylee Vincent. Great-grandchildren – Mikayla and Jaxson Swallow, Jace and Stella De Leon, Olivia and Piper Pinson, and Tucker Sutherland. She is also survived by one brother, Virgil Davis along with many nieces and nephews and friends.

Betty and F.G. traveled across the state to many softball tournaments, horseshoe tournaments, football and baseball games. She loved sports and enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids play. She would always yell “c’mon babe” when her great-grandkids were playing. Betty even attended a few cornhole tournaments. She enjoyed (except when it was cold) driving the bus for the Leon ISD Band while attending the football games. Betty loved watching the Astros.

Betty was a huge fan and loved Elvis Presley. She and her husband traveled to Graceland. That was one of the best vacations she had. Her family surprised her with an Elvis Tribute Artist for her 75th birthday. She loved family time, family vacations, and enjoyed cooking for her family. Betty truly loved her family. The testimony of her life is the legacy she has left behind in the success of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
